Zunächst wird die verwendeten Bodenhorizonte und deren Parameter zusammengestellt. Hierzu steht in KalypsoHydrology ein Datenbank zur Verfügung, welches ggf. ergänzt werden muss. Bei Ergänzungen der vorliegenden Bodenarten wird, wie folgt vorgegangen:
