Pre Processing of Time Series
The modelling is carried out in two steps. Firstly, there are the long-term simulations to map the long-term processes and compute the long temporal water balance. On the other hand, the short-term simulation is used for giving an accurate computation of individual events on the basis of long-term calculations. The data required for this are limited to the discrete measurement data such as precipitation, evaporation and run off and the water levels.
Finally, the discrete precipitation data are distributed on the area of the sub catchments. In KalypsoHydrology, own precipitation, temperature and evaporation characteristics are assigned to each sub area. There are different methods to determine the precipitation in a particular area; for example: The Thiessen Polygon Method.
