Pre-Processing of Land Use Data

Land use in the catchment area is crucial for deriving the parameters of the degree of sealing and vegetation data. The aim is to make known the inclusion of sub-catchment- and soil data hydrotope (which has identical hydrological characteristics) and draw up a parameter catalogue, which defines the associated land use data to the hydrotope properties.

First, the land use type must be classified in sealing classes (see Table of The sealing classes), which divides the existing model in the field of land use to classes of the same sealing (as forest, industrial, single family homes). Every sealing class has a degree of sealing, which can be corrected for each sub catchment or for each land use polygon by a factor. By the degree of sealing, or possibly the correction factor, each hydrotope is subdivided into a natural and sealed area ratio, which causes different run off generation processes in the model calculation.
